Patient Frequently Asked Questions

Can I book a brief call before becoming a patient?

Yes. A complimentary 15-minute discovery call is available for prospective patients who would like to learn more about the practice before booking an initial consultation. The discovery call is intended to:

  • Briefly discuss what you are looking for

  • Explain Dr. Wiseman’s approach

  • Review appointment options

  • Determine whether the practice appears to be a suitable fit

  • Answer basic questions about the booking process

Because it is not a clinical appointment, the discovery call does not include medical advice, a detailed review of records, diagnosis, treatment recommendations or health guidance.

Do I need a referral?

No. You do not generally need a referral from a family doctor or another healthcare provider to book. You are welcome to contact the clinic directly. However, referral letters, specialist reports, imaging results and recent laboratory testing may be helpful when they relate to your current concerns. With your consent, Dr. Wiseman may also communicate or collaborate with members of your existing healthcare team when clinically appropriate.

How long are appointments?

New patients typically begin with a comprehensive 90-minute appointment. This generally includes approximately 60 to 75 minutes of direct consultation, with additional time reserved for reviewing information and developing the care plan.

Follow-up appointments are usually booked for 30 or 45 minutes, depending on the complexity of the concerns being discussed. Longer follow-ups may be recommended when several health concerns, extensive laboratory results or major care-plan changes need to be reviewed.

Focused 30-minute appointments may also be available for acute or limited concerns when a full comprehensive intake is not required.
